How To Customize Your Wig

How To Customize Your Wig

Customizing your new KL Lace Wig is not quite as difficult as most people think. In 10 quick steps, we will run you through the process:

Step 1: Place The Wig On A Mannequin

Secure the wig with T-pins for the best results.

Step 2: Pluck The Lace

Part the lace wig hair in two sections, and use a Tweezer to pluck the hairline towards yourself to make it less bulky and achieve that natural look

Step 3: Apply Bleach Mixture

Prepare and apply a bleach mixture using a developer, mixing bowl and mixing brush, and stir the mixture until it becomes pasty  (so it doesn't bleed onto the hair).

This step is only required if your new lace wig is not pre-bleached.

Step 4: Bleach Knots On The Lace

Turn your lace wig inside out and pin it down to your foam head and begin by bleaching the knots along the hairline. Put the shower cap on top and leave the bleach to lighten for 15 min. Then, wash out bleach with a neutralizing shampoo.

Step 5: Cut The Lace

Cut the lace along the hairline and ears.

Step 6: Protect The Wig Hair From Heat Damage

Secure your wig onto your mannequin head with your t-pins. Use a dime-sized amount of heat protection and disperse it throughout the hair.

Step 7: Curl The Hair As You Like

Separate the hair into different sections with your comb, and clip the excess hair out of your way using your alligator clips. Then take your wand curler and begin to curl different sections of the hair to your liking.

Step 8: Seal The Hair With Spray

Seal the hair with your favorite alcohol-free hair spray.

Step 9: Create Your Own Part

All lace wigs were not created equal. Some come with a pre-made part down the middle, to the side, with multiple parts, or with no parting at all (also known as a "free part"). With the free part lace front wig in particular (Beautyforever lace wig give you the freedom to freely part your hair), you'll get to choose where you want your part to lay and create it. You can do this before you create the full wig or after. Just play around with the parting, create a fun hairstyle or keep it down for a more sophisticated and trendy look.

Step 10: Create Natural Edges

One of the main complaints from newbie lace front wig wearers is the unnatural hairline. No one's hairline is full from ear to ear, and it'll be the first indicator that you're wearing a wig. Adjust your lace front wig accordingly. Don't forget the baby-hairs! For this step separate a small section of the hair from the hairline that you want to use as baby hairs. Use a razor to cut the hair down until the hair is at your desired baby hair length. How long you want them to be is really up to you, some even resort to not creating baby hairs at all. Using a wig head lay down the baby hairs as you would on your head using mousse.
